Last week the answer to question on notice 2563 stated that the employment of the minister’s chief of staff was by way of special agreement. Can the minister tell the House the form that this special agreement takes? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I will attempt to do that to the best of my ability. I was not the employing authority. Obviously the arrangement for his employment was made by the previous Minister for Local Government and Regional Development. He is a term-of-government employee. I suspect that the special arrangement might relate to the fact that he is Dr John Phillimore. He was an employee of Murdoch University and I suspect that he may well be on some sort of secondment arrangement. However, I caution the member that I suspect that that is the case. I am certainly happy to find out whether it is or is not the case, but I think that is what the reference to special agreement relates to.
