Please provide names, agencies and industry representation; (h) How often is the FIOG meeting, and can you provide minutes or summaries of those meetings; (i) What data is the FIOG relying on to inform its decisions; (j) Is the Government relying solely on data from the Joint Government Agencies (JGA), or has independent data been commissioned; (k) Has the Government commissioned any independent modelling or analysis to assess supply gaps and forecast shortages; (l) How is the FIOG informing whole-of-government coordination, particularly with agencies such as the Departments of Agriculture and Mining; (m) Are those departments actively feeding information back into FIOG to ensure priority industries are being protected; (n) What is the Government’s rationale and framework for prioritisation of fuel allocation; (o) Are primary producers, freight operators and emergency services formally recognised as priority users; (p) How is that prioritisation being enforced across distributors; and (q) What mechanisms are in place to ensure fairness and consistency in allocation decisions across regions?

The supply of fuel into WA remains uninterrupted and continues to meet demand. WA has been allocated its share of the 20% Minimum Stockholding Obligation draw down and the State Government has established a Strategic Fuel Stockpile to respond to any future localised shortages in regional areas.
Weekly updates on fuel security are published on the WA Government Fuel Security website.

The Fuel Industry Operations Group (FIOG) is working to maintain fuel security through information sharing and coordination. As at 14 April 2026, the FIOG has held 10 meetings with communiques published on the WA Government Fuel Security website.
The FIOG includes representatives from the Office of the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation, the Coordinator of Energy, Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, Department of Transport, WA Farmers Federation, Freight and Logistics Council, CMEWA, AMEC and all major fuel companies.
The Government utilises multiple sources of data to inform decisions. The FIOG is part of a broader response structure which includes all relevant Government Departments.
