ELECTORAL DATABASE SYSTEMS
I refer the Premier to questions without notices 815 and 836. (1) Will the Premier table the contracts awarded to Consultech Engineering Services Pty Ltd and Magenta Linas Software Pty Ltd in 2001 and 2005; and, if not, why not? (2) Will the Leader of the House, as the representative of the Premier, table all party-based variations of the letter sent to members by the Information Technology Manager in April 2001 concerning access to electorate information systems; and, if not, why not? (3) What is the source of the electoral roll data for the two aforementioned companies? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for providing some notice of the question. (1)-(3) I will table the request document that formed the basis for the contractual arrangements for the procurement process that commenced in 2005. A similar document for the late 2000 tender process was tabled on 26 September 2006 in response to question without notice 815. The tenders and other documents associated with both of these procurement processes in forming part of the contracts may contain commercially sensitive information. Therefore, the Premier has asked the Department of the Premier and Cabinet to review the documentation before it can be released. Further to response to question without notice 836, I table copies of records located within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet associated with the Information Technology Manager’s advice to members dated 17 April 2001. Both contractors have advised that electoral roll data is sourced from the Western Australian Electoral Commission. [See paper 2147.]
