568. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
minister representing the Minister for Forestry:
(1) Has the Nannup Timber Processing mill shut down its kiln?
(2) If yes to (1), when?
(3) Have staff who worked on the kiln been laid off; and, if
so, how many staff members?
(4) Have staff
who worked on the dressed timber–value adding section of the mill been
laid off; and, if so, how many staff members?
(5) Is the facility currently milling only jarrah sleepers?
(6) If no to (5), what other milling takes place?

(1) No, the kiln has not been shut.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) No, no-one operating the kiln has been laid off.
(4) Nannup
Timber Processing has been reviewing its business structure and operations and
20 staff have received a redundancy.
(5) No.
(6) Nannup
Timber Processing produces high-value timber products for flooring and decking,
furniture components and other pre-dressed and dressed timber. NTP has a
contractual obligation to the Forest Products Commission to produce value-added
timber products.
