Public housing—Mould
126. Mr David Bolt to
the Minister for Housing and Works:
I refer to several
recent media stories that have highlighted mould issues within public housing
homes and the significant impact to tenants' health issues because of that. How
many Department of Housing and Works homes are currently being treated or
investigated for mould?

I thank the member
for the question. As we know, the state government undertakes a large number of
maintenance work. We have more than 45,000 social homes, and every day
maintenance orders are issued. We undertake significant work. On top of that,
we have a major refurbishment program that we do. We work in accordance with
the Residential Tenancies Act. We work hard to fulfil our obligations, and we
invest through our refurbishments and maintenance programs. If the member has
individual inquiries about particular issues, he should put them on notice.
