Minister for Transport:
I refer to the commonwealth government's plan to
permit the Dutch super trawler Margiris to
fish in waters off the Western Australian coast.
(1) Is the
minister or the department aware of whether the super trawler plans to stop in
a Western Australian port?
(2) Has the
minister or the department been approached by the commonwealth government or
representatives of the super trawler regarding the use of Western Australian
ports by the super trawler?
(3) If yes to
(2), what were the details of the communication and what ports in Western
Australia will be used by the super trawler?
(4) If no to
(2), does the minister have any concerns about the use of Western Australian
ports by the super trawler?
