Preventative Health—"Don't Assume You're
Immune" campaign
273. Hon Philip Scott to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Preventative Health:
(1) How much is the government paying for each of
the "Don't Assume You're Immune" billboards across Western Australia?
(2) What are the reasons for paying for the
massive billboard on Stirling Highway, Nedlands, where most of the residents
are the most educated and wealthy?
(3) Would these funds not be better spent on
fixing ambulance ramping for hospitals to reduce surgery waiting times?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer is
provided on behalf of the Minister for Preventative Health.
(1)–(3) The Cook Labor government is
serious about preventing health problems and keeping people out of hospital in
the short and long term. "Don't Assume You're Immune" is a vital
public health campaign that the government is proud to invest in. Proactive
public health messaging including on vaccinations is a key public health
prevention strategy. Vaccination helps stop the spread of disease, reduces the
number of hospital admissions and eases pressure on the healthcare system.
