I refer to my previous question asked in this place in May of this year relating to an election promise for the construction of traffic control lights at the corner of Madora Beach Road and Fremantle Road, which is near the Mandurah Baptist College, and the minister’s reply stating that the lights will be completed by the end of October 2005. Why has the minister failed to fulfil the government’s election promise and misinformed my constituents and the people of Western Australia? Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! Therein lies the problem with other people answering a question before the minister gets an opportunity. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! Ms A.J.G. MacTIERNAN

If the member had any interest in the answer to that detailed question he would have given me some notice of it so that I could obtain the information required. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! Ms A.J.G. MacTIERNAN : My understanding is that construction is about to begin, if it has not already begun. I have not been able to check that within the short time in which the member was asking the question, but my understanding, having looked at this issue a couple of weeks ago, is that the project was scheduled to commence in November and be completed by December. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! Ms A.J.G. MacTIERNAN : There were some design issues, which meant that we were not able to get the project completed by October, but we are very confident that it will be completed by December. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : I call the Leader of the Opposition to order. Members who ask questions must give the minister a chance to answer. They should not continually interject to stop the minister. I therefore call the member for Murray to order for the second time. Mr J.H.D. Day : What about the member for Mandurah? THE SPEAKER : I call the member for Darling Range to order for the first time.
