TOBACCO-RELATED COMPANIES — STATE
GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT
935. Hon LINDA SAVAGE to the minister representing the
Treasurer:
I refer to recent media reports that both the New South Wales
and Victorian state governments have invested $30 million and $117 million
respectively in tobacco-related companies.
(1) Does the Western Australian government invest any money
in tobacco-related companies?
(2) If yes to
(1), what is the total value of this investment in tobacco companies and
through what bodies is this money invested?
(3) Will the
Western Australian government consider agreeing to divest itself of any
investments in tobacco-related companies as soon as possible; and, if not, why
not?
