Clean energy Link—East
533. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the Clean
Energy Link–East project.
(1) What is the maximum amperage and megawatt
capacity of the proposed new Clean Energy Link–East line for the proposed new
terminal south of Darkan?
(2) What is the maximum amperage and
megawatt capacity of the proposed new 330 kilovolt lines from the new terminal
to the existing Muja and Shotts terminals?
(3) Will the government extend Clean
Energy Link–East beyond the Darkan terminal and, if so, when?
(4) Are renewable energy proponents
expected to pay for new lines from their projects to the Darkan terminal?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The Clean Energy Link–East stage 1
project is expected to consist of two 330 kilovolt lines from a new terminal
south of Darkan to Muja and two 330 kilovolt lines to Shotts terminal. Each
line has a rating of approximately 2,200 megawatts, making around 2.3 gigawatts
of transfer capacity available in the network.
(4) Future development of the network is
guided by the South West Interconnected System Transmission
Plan and customer-specific connection requirements. Any contributions
will align with the policy set at that time, which are anticipated to be the
framework currently before Parliament.
