PUBLIC BOAT RAMPS — PERTH METROPOLITAN AREA
Can the minister advise the house when the last public boat ramp was opened and built in the Perth metropolitan area and the location of that boat ramp? Hon ADELE FARINA

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. The minister has provided the following answer. Most new boat ramps have been constructed as either an expansion to an existing facility or as a reconstruction of an older facility. As the question is not specific in this regard, this response deals with three possible scenarios. The last public boat-launching facility to be constructed in its entirety in the Perth metropolitan area was in the mid-1980s, located within Hillarys Boat Harbour. The boat ramp on the Swan River at Matilda Bay was completely reconstructed in 2005, along with subsequent improvements to the associated jetty and car park to improve the launch and retrieve times for vessels. Two additional ramp lanes were delivered in 1996 at the existing Cape Peron boat-launching facility in Rockingham. In the past eight years, the state government has allocated more than $1.3 million of recreational boat facilities funding for the upgrade of metropolitan boat ramps.
