I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is working with the
Bunbury Development Committee and the City of Bunbury's Co-Design
Access Panel to prepare a design for improved accessibility within the
remaining Mangrove Cove area. There is no master plan for this area.
Designs
for stage 2 works will be developed for improved universal path access and an
accessible playground with a focus on
nature play. A toilet block will also be built at the site, and there will be
additional landscaping. Costings will be determined once the designs are
finalised. There is approximately $2 million remaining to deliver stage
2 works. These works are expected to commence in the second half of 2020.
The
Bunbury Development Committee is leading investigations into options for a future
vision and uses for the currently undeveloped portion of the Mangrove
Cove site, which includes community consultation. The sum of $500 000 has been
allocated to the South West Development Commission for these investigations.
