I thank the member for some notice of the question. I have
only just received answers to these questions and I do not have multiple copies
of them. I will sort that out.
(1) Yes.
(2) I am advised
that at the time the code yellow was activated, there were a total of 24 adults
and two adolescents requiring admission to an authorised mental health unit.
(3) I have
just been advised by the chief executive of North Metropolitan Health Service
that the code yellow is no longer active. I understand that 13 patients are
currently awaiting transfer to an authorised mental health unit. Of these, five
have a bed waiting.
(4) The
Department of Health, in accordance with policy and protocols established for a
code yellow situation, is prioritising the safety and care of all patients.
Patients are being transferred to authorised mental health units as beds become
available. Consultant psychiatrists are continuing to review all patients.
