I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (a) The Children and Community Services Act 2004 was proclaimed on 1 March 2006. The following regulations relate to child care: Children and Community Services (Outside School Hours Care) Regulations 2006; Children and Community Services (Child Care) Regulations 2006; Children and Community Services (Outside School Hours Family Day Care) Regulations 2006; Children and Community Services (Family Day Care) Regulations 2006; and Children and Community Services Regulations 2006. These regulations primarily reflect changes required as a result of the new act. (b) The full details of stage 2 of the development of the childcare regulations 2006 are subject to consultation before being finalised. (c) The development of stage 2 has commenced. (d) Stage 2 will be completed following comprehensive consultation. (e) There will be consultation with child care licensees, parents, the child care advisory committee, child care sector representative bodies and the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers’ Union. (f) The process is that drafting instructions will be forwarded by the Department for Community Development to the minister’s office for approval and forwarding to parliamentary counsel, who will then send back the drafted amendments to the department.
