(7) WA Police are required to record and maintain an Equipment Register which is subject to Departmental Audit Controls to ensure items are recorded correctly and comply with internal Policies and Procedures. Steps to prevent any possible loss or theft of such equipment are enforced in the internal Police Manual.
(8) In 2005 system controls were added to the Equipment Register database which is audited annually. This requires officers to enter a Police Incident Report number for any item that is stolen, thus ensuring a Police Incident Report is submitted upon the theft of such an item.
