(a) East Perth Cemetery was included on the State Register of Heritage Places on an interim basis in 1992.
Information recently came to light that showed that the cemetery had once been larger than previously thought. The heritage assessment documentation was updated in 2009 to reflect this new information and sent to stakeholders for comments on the proposed permanent registration of a larger area.
The Heritage Council will progress its recommendation on permanent registration of the East Perth Cemetery once stakeholder consultation has been concluded.
In the meantime, the Cemetery is afforded the full protection of the Heritage Act under its interim registration.
