I refer to the Minister’s answer to my Question On Notice No. 3172 relating to Yura Yungi Aboriginal Medical Service and ask: (a) in 2013–2014, how many: (i) Back to Country Camps were held, how many people attended each of these camps, and where did the Back to Country camps take place; (ii) Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) Training courses were delivered, how many people participated and of those people, how many successfully completed the program; and (iii) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) programs were delivered and how many people participated and of these people, how many completed the program successfully; (b) as a result of the delivery of the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) programs: (i) have suicide numbers decreased in the Halls Creek area; and (ii) how many of the successful participants of the program have assisted in preventing suicide; and (c) in 2013–2014, what is the number of people that have accessed services provided by Yura Yungi Aboriginal Medical Service as a result of the additional funding of $172,375?

(a)
(i) Four camps were held. Of these, three were held in Warmun in the lake country with a total of 75 participants along with other families with children.
A further 10 people participated in another camp at Caroline Pool near Halls Creek.
(ii) Four AMHFA courses were delivered - 34 participants, 20 completed.
(iii) Three ASIST courses were delivered - 27 participants, 19 completed.
(b)
(i) Statistics relating to suicide rates should be redirected to the Office of the State Coroner at the Department of the Attorney General.
(ii) (ii) It is not practical to capture such data as suicidal intention is not always apparent.
(c) This cannot be accurately reported as clients access the service for a variety of issues and/or medical concerns. However, during the period, Yura Yungi became a first point of contact for community and professional staff across agencies for suicide prevention training, awareness raising and suicide response. It is estimated that during the length of the program, approximately 80 clients were seen by Yura Yungi for a range of issues in mental health and social and emotional wellbeing. Approximately 250 people attended the Kimberley wide carnival. The CAP also engaged approximately 30 local youth who were bereaved by suicide.
