MINISTERIAL OFFICE
As of 1 January 2010 the Government Media Office ceased to operate in a move to streamline decision making and coordination across portfolios. As part of these changes responsibility for daily Media Monitoring Services for Ministers and some government agencies has been transferred to the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
DEPARTMENT OF MINES & PETROLEUM
The Department of Mines and Petroleum does use a media monitoring service which is shared under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of State Development.
a) Media Monitors.
b) The Department pays a fee of $282 per month, plus charges per item.
c) The costs incurred for the media monitoring service from September 23 to December 31, 2008 by the then, Department of Industry and Resources, was $24,316.67. After restructure, the Department of Mines and Petroleum spent $70,896.21 between January 2009 and May 2010.
d) The Department no longer has a contract, but maintains a monthly service account.
e) The last contract expired in January 2010.
