❓ Mr. Cook questions the Minister for Health regarding the government's stance on a potential co-payment for emergency department visits, linking it to the Premier's comments on GP co-payments and the principles of the National Healthcare Agreement. The Minister deflects, stating the Premier's comments were conditional and a response will be considered after the Commonwealth's actions.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT VISITS — PROPOSED
CO-PAYMENT
305. Mr R.H. COOK to the
Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. Minister, given that the
Premier is already on the record saying that he supports a co-payment for
general practitioners, is the government trying to tear up the National
Healthcare Agreement or is it the long-held Australian principle that health
care should be on the basis of health, not wealth?

Mr Speaker, I think supplementary questions are supposed to
be short and follow on from the previous question. Nevertheless, the Premier
did not say that. I saw the PremierXXX ###XXXs
comments. The Premier said that if it was proposed by the commonwealth, we will
consider it. When we see what the commonwealth does, then we will consider our
response.
