Noting that under the Barnett-Harvey Liberal government, of which the Member for Darling Range was a member, the Byford Rail Extension would not have been built until 2050.
(a)
(i)-(ii) It must be noted that the Shire’s clear preference was to locate the station in the town centre, where we have now located it. Regular consultation has taken place with the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and consultation has commenced with nearby residents and businesses. The location of the station was determined in close consultation with the Shire, and aligns with the Shire’s planning for the Byford town centre.
(b)
(i) The station location is within the rail reserve. The location of the station’s supporting infrastructure is being determined through this next phase of planning and will include engagement with affected landowners.
(ii) Face to face meetings with the most affected landowners has commenced and will continue throughout the project. Community engagement with other local residents has also commenced.
(c)
(i) As always there are local disruption impacts, this happens with every bridge or significant road structure. The extent to which any landowners will be affected by the station will be known once the project definition phase is completed.
(ii) Residents of approximately 30 properties will be required to travel along Vlasich Road and Hay Road for direct access to Thomas Road, or along George Street and Larsen Road to access the South Western Highway. Traffic modelling is continuing to ensure the impacts to residents are as minimal as possible.
(d) Refer to the Main Roads website.
(e) Refer to (c)(ii).
