I refer the minister to his letter to members - reference 19-413 - of 27 April 2005, which refers to the regional infrastructure funding program and includes reference to an additional $80 million over four years for the regional investment fund. (1) Is it correct that $10 million of the $80 million has been allocated to the Pilbara fund? (2) If so, will the minister now refer to the regional investment fund as a $70 million fund; and, if not, why not? Hon JON FORD

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of this question. The Minister for Local Government and Regional Development has provided the following answer - (1) Yes. (2) No. The regional investment fund is an $80 million fund. The allocation of $10 million from the RIF to the $20 million Pilbara fund is considered to be a strategic commitment that meets the RIF eligibility criteria and it is legitimate to claim it as a project funded through the RIF.
