I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1) Hillarys in the 2010 calendar year, 77 interruptions; Hillarys in 2011 to date, five interruptions; Sorrento in the 2010 calendar year, 54 interruptions; and Sorrento in 2011 to date, five interruptions. (2) The interruptions resulted from failure of electricity equipment in service, and other causes such as storms, birds, vehicles versus poles, et cetera. Equipment failure contributed to about 50 per cent of interruptions to Hillarys and 30 per cent of interruptions to Sorrento. (3) Western Power is aware of the unusually high number of power interruptions in Hillarys and Sorrento, and is working to identify the underlying causes and to improve network performance accordingly. Western Power is also investing in new technologies to improve the response times to faults.
