MAIN ROADS —
CIVIL WORKS — RECYCLED MATERIAL
451. Hon SALLY
TALBOT to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the suspension of the contract with Main Roads
involving the use of recycled material in state government civil works.
(1) Has
agreement been reached on an interim testing regime whereby one in every 70
cubic metres would be tested for asbestos?
(2) Further,
has agreement been reached that such an interim testing regime would stay in
place until a comprehensive risk-based analysis has been undertaken and a
long-term test regime put in place?
(3) Are these interim measures now in place; and, if not, why
not?
(4) Has asbestos been detected in any work or available
stockpiles to date?
(5) Is the contract still suspended; and, if so, why?
(6) Does the minister intend to reinstate the contract?
(7) If so,
what steps are necessary before it is reinstated and how long will these steps
take to complete?
