I refer to instances of financial assistance being provided to individuals and families by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support, and I ask,: (a) why, in 2013-14, were there more instances of financial assistance being provided in the South West than in any other geographic district; and (b) what is the average amount of financial assistance provided in each instance: (i) on a state wide basis; and (ii) in the South West?

a) The South West district office of the Department for Child Protection and Family Support (the Department) provided 99 instances of financial assistance to individuals and families in 2013-14.
District by district comparison is not possible as more than half of the instances of financial assistance were provided by the Department's Crisis Care Unit to people across the State.
