364. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Fisheries:
I refer to the three newly
established marine parks in the Buccaneer Archipelago and the proposed south
coast marine park.
(1) Specific to
the additional compliance activities that will be required within these marine
parks by fisheries officers, has the
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development received or will it
receive —
(a) capital funding towards the
provision of additional patrol vessels; or
(b) additional recurrent operational
funding?
(2) If no, how
will DPIRD meet its impending compliance obligations within its current
resources?

provided by the Minister for Fisheries.
(1) Resourcing for the Department of Primary Industries
and Regional Development to service the Buccaneer Archipelago marine parks
and the proposed south coast marine park will be considered as part of the
normal budget process.
