LOCAL GOVERNMENTS - RESOURCE SHARING ARRANGEMENTS
My question is to the Minister for Local Government and Regional Development. The PRESIDENT : Order, members. Hon Robyn McSweeney is asking a question, but I cannot hear her. Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY : I refer to the major initiatives for the department which indicate that financial incentives will be provided for local governments to adopt resource sharing arrangements and assistance in achieving more efficient structures for service delivery. Will the minister outline what those financial incentives are likely to consist of? Hon JON FORD

I thank Hon Robyn McSweeney for the question. An amount of $3 million over two years has been provided to put together incentives to look at ways of encouraging or assisting local governments to find efficiencies through resource sharing or entering into regional council arrangements or whatever. I am currently putting together a grant structure. I expect that that will be prepared by next week, and I am happy to table that once I have put it together.
