I refer to the media release dated 17 May 2017 titled Skipper's views sought on changes to safety equipment, and I ask: (a) how many submissions were received in response to the review; (b) has the Department of Transport provided advice to the Minister regarding changes to the Navigable Waters Regulations 1958 ; (c) if yes, on what date was the advice provided; (d) will the Minister table the advice; (e) has the Department recommended changes to the Navigable Waters Regulations 1958 ; (f) if yes, what changes are being recommended; (g) has the Minister accepted any of those recommendations and if yes, what recommendations has the Minister accepted; and (h) when does the Minister expect this review will be completed and when will the public be made aware of any changes to the Navigable Waters Regulations 1958 ?

(e) The draft Recreational Vessel Safety Equipment Review Position Paper is currently being prepared for consideration. Upon approval it will be released for a six-week consultation period to enable the public to provide feedback via an online survey.

(h) Following the public consultation, an analysis of the findings of the survey will be carried out. The results of the survey will assist the Department of Transport to finalise the Government’s position for the review which is anticipated to be completed in 2019.
