(1) Yes, the Education Department has encouraged a number of schools to obtain Registered Training Organisation status. (2) In 1999 eight schools qualified to become Registered Training Organisations. (3) Yes. In the second half of 1999 and early in 2000 a total of twenty nine schools applied to become Registered Training Organisations. There were another four schools that had commenced the Registered Training Organisation process but had not reached the stage of application to the Training Accreditation Council. (4) The twenty nine schools that applied completed all the organisation requirements. (5) Yes, the Education Department supported the schools. (6) The twenty nine schools have been notified of their registrations therefore there has not been a barrier. (7) Not applicable. (8) The schools that have applied have received their registrations so Year 12 students will not be disadvantaged. (9) Not applicable.
