I refer to the Western Trade Coast Industries Committee, to Question on Notice 6316, and the 2010–2011 LandCorp Annual Report which provides, in part, that a single body, the Western Trade Coast Industries Committee, has replaced five separate committees previously involved in the planning and development of the region; this decision ensures the efforts of Government are better co-ordinated to maximise the region’s economic and employment potential; by aligning these efforts alone we can produce an estimated additional $2 billion per annum and an additional 1,600 jobs, and ask: (a) has the creation of the committee produced the estimated $2 billion per annum as outlined in the LandCorp 2010–2011 Annual Report; (b) what additional amount was produced for the 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 financial years; (c) has the creation of the committee produced the additional 1,600 jobs as outlined in the LandCorp Annual Report, and if not why not; and (d) how many additional jobs have been created?

(a-d) The Western Trade Coast Industries Committee (WTCIC) replaced five committees, with the intention of better coordinating the activities of key servicing and Government agencies within the Western Trade Coast (WTC) area. The consolidation into one committee has provided the WTCIC with a stronger focus on economic and business development, industry attraction and raising awareness of opportunities within the WTC area.
A study commissioned by the WTCIC, due to be released shortly, will measure current economic output and employment within the WTC area.
