I thank the honourable Barbara Scott for this question. (1) Specific programs targeting this age group are a fundamental movement skills program, through the Department of Education and Training; a professional learning program to support a years 4 to 7 physical activity resource in district schools, through the Department of Education and Training; Crunch & Sip, through the Department of Health; Sportsfun, through the Department of Sport and Recreation; Sportsfun Across Generations, through the Department of Sport and Recreation; junior sport development days, through the Department of Sport and Recreation; Expand and Support Youth Physical Activity Advisory Committees, through the Department of Sport and Recreation; and a dance leader program, through the Department of Sport and Recreation. Research into children’s activity and nutrition was conducted in 2003 and will be conducted again in 2008 by the Premier’s Physical Activity Taskforce.  The Premier’s Physical Activity Taskforce is also linked to the Active After-School Communities program, which is funded by the federal government and run by the Australian Sports Commission. (2) Other programs are community sport and recreation grants; indigenous sport; the community sporting and recreation facilities fund; and camps, which are participation programs in outdoor settings.
