The Western Australia Police Service advise:
(a) 3 Police cars are allocated to the Gingin Police Station.
(b) All 3 cars from Gingin are used to patrol the Great Northern Highway.
(c) Midland Police Station has 7 vehicles. The East Metropolitan Traffic District, also located at Midland, has 5 vehicles allocated to the section. One of these is a marked pursuit vehicle decaled with highway patrol signs.
(d) The area between Muchea and Wubin is not part of the East Metropolitan Police District. The Midland Police Station and East Metropolitan Traffic District boundary along Great Northern Highway is the Brand Highway, Muchea. The area in question comes within the Wheatbelt Police District.
East Metropolitan District supports the Southern Police Region and the Wheatbelt Police District, by conducting highway patrols along 4 major arterial roads leading from Midland. These are Toodyay Road, Great Eastern, Great Northern, and the Brand Highways.
(e) Police vehicles from Moora, Dalwallinu & Wongan Hills, along with the Wheatbelt Traffic Unit, patrol the Great Northern Highway.
(f) Moora Police work day and afternoon shifts. Dalwallinu & Wongan Hills rotate between day and afternoon shifts on a needs basis. Patrols from these stations are conducted at least twice weekly.
Wheatbelt Traffic Unit officers currently patrol through the area at least twice weekly. The OIC Wheatbelt Traffic Unit receives rosters of intended patrols from all stations in the District and ensures no duplication. He also teams officers from various stations to provide patrols. In addition, there are two multanova camera operators in the Unit who are rostered to conduct camera operations at differing locations along the highway on a regular basis.
