I note the recent, widely publicised documentary in which Sir David Attenborough interviewed Her Majesty the Queen with regard to the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy project. I further note that Australia has committed at a Federal level to become involved in that project, and I ask: (a) what discussions, if any, have taken place between the Minister and his Federal counterpart regarding the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy; and (b) what forested areas, if any, have been identified here in Western Australia as potential sites for inclusion within the canopy?

(a) Australia participates in the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy through the 20 Million Trees initiative managed by the National Landcare Program. I have been briefed on the community based conservation projects it is funding in Western Australia. The final round of funding under this program was in December 2017. I will continue to discuss new Commonwealth conservation initiatives that have implications for Western Australia with my Federal counterpart as they are progressed.
(b) Western Australian community groups and local governments successfully received funding from the 20 Million Tree initiative from 2015 to 2017 to carry out the following conservation projects, which contribute to Australia’s commitment to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.
