❓ Hon Alison Xamon asks about the breakdown of projected water savings (15 gigalitres) for 2012-13, specifically how much is expected from the Target 60 campaign versus other water efficiency measures. The Minister provides a partial answer, deferring a precise Target 60 figure until November 2012 and outlining other contributing initiatives.

WATER
SAVING CAMPAIGN — TARGET 60
867. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the
Minister for Water:
I refer to question on notice 5995, asked on 11 September
2012, and the figure of 15 gigalitres of water projected to be saved over the
entire 2012–13 period.
(1) Of the 15
gigalitres, how many are expected to directly result from voluntary actions
made under this year's Target 60 campaign?
(2) How many
of the projected 15 gigalitres are expected to result from other water
efficiency measures?
(3) In
relation to (2), will the minister please name the other water efficiency
measures expected to contribute to this year's projected 15 gigalitres
of water savings; and state by item the projected gigalitre savings from each?

I thank the member
for some notice of this question.
(1) Water saved through the Target 60
campaign is estimated as the difference between predicted water supply and actual
water supply for the campaign period—1 December 2012 to 31 March 2013.
The Water Corporation will finalise the Target 60 savings estimate in November
2012, based on actual year-to-date water consumption. Voluntary actions,
together with programs outlined in (3), will contribute to this savings target.
(2) The balance of savings will occur from 1
July 2012 to 30 November 2012, and 1 April 2013 to 30 June 2013.
(3) A range of water efficiency initiatives
are active in 2012–13. The following savings have been estimated for
all of 2012–13: water efficiency management plans, five gigalitres;
residential programs, including Showerhead Swap, H2ome Smart, audit and
retrofits, 2.5 gigalitres; and data logging for major non-residential
customers, 0.5 gigalitres.
