I refer to this statement by Buru Energy Ltd in their latest Quarterly Report (Dec 2022), “As part of the continuing work on the commercialisation of the Rafael discovery, Buru entered into an agreement with Transborders Energy, to conduct a pre-feasibility study for a Kimberley-based compact marinised Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant solution.” and I ask: is the Minister aware that the Rafael discovery is adjacent to the Martuwarra Fitzroy River and sensitive springs?

I am advised that the Rafael 1 well site, the ‘Rafael discovery’, is located approximately 14kilometres west south-west from the nearest tributary of the Fitzroy River.
The McGowan Government remains committed to ensuring that petroleum activities are conducted in an environmentally safe and responsible manner.
