Urban Flux—Office location
3. Hon Tjorn Sibma to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Housing and Works:
I refer to the
minister's answers of 14 and 16 October last year advising that the process of
consolidating Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration staff in a single
location at 80 Francis Street, Northbridge was "live and ongoing" and
that "further announcements will be made in due course". Noting media
reports that this option will now not proceed, I ask the following.
(1) Why has the government now halted its
preferred option to consolidate staff at 80 Francis Street, Northbridge?
(2) How much has the government spent on staff and
consultant costs for this project so far?
(3) When did the tender process commence?
(4) Was 80 Francis Street the first and only
location selected for this move? If not, what were the others, and why were
they not selected?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on
behalf of the Minister for Housing and Works.
(1)–(4) The state has decided it will not
progress with a lease for a site in Northbridge. This process is subject to the
provisions of the contract and it would be inappropriate to comment further at
this time. On 10 May 2023, the expression of interest (EOI) was released to
market. The EOI closed on 7 June 2023. There were a number of shortlisted
proposals.
