The Cook Government recently announced $1.5 billion for the Building Hospitals Fund, on top of the unprecedented $14.3 billion investment in Western Australia’s health system since 2021. Over the past four years, the Cook Government has consistently invested in maintenance funding across the Health Service Providers (HSP).
HSP standard reporting includes repairs, maintenance and consumable equipment. Western Australian Country Health Service maintenance expenditure was $52,532,000 in financial year (FY) 2020/21, $75,303,000 in FY 2021/22, $79,887,000 in FY 2022/23, $69,431,000 in FY 2023/24, and $75,563,000 in FY 2024/25.
Across the North Metropolitan Health Service, maintenance expenditure was $44,503,000 in FY 2020/21, $63,496,000 in FY 2021/22, $48,337,000 in FY 2022/23, $52,110,000 in FY 2023/24, and $60,280,000 in FY 2024/25.
South Metropolitan Health Service maintenance expenditure was $56,960,000 in FY 2020/21, $60,325,000 in FY 2021/22, $64,241,000 in FY 2022/23, $69,643,000 in FY 2023/24, and $81,398,000 in FY 2024/25.
East Metropolitan Health Service maintenance expenditure was $28,661,000 in FY 2020/21, $36,445,000 in FY 2021/22, $34,174,000 in FY 2022/23 $37,172,000 in FY 2023/24, and $43,096,000 in FY 2024/25.
