BROOKFIELD ESTATE — SCHOOL BUS SERVICE
339. Hon ADELE FARINA to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the school bus service to Brookfield Estate in
Margaret River.
(1) In 2014,
how many students used the school bus service from Brookfield Estate each day?
(2) How many
additional students require a bus service to Margaret River in 2015 compared
with 2014, as a result of the transition of year 7 students to high school?
(3) For how
many years was a school bus service offered to Brookfield Estate residents?
(4) Has the
establishment of a contract bus service been investigated for Brookfield Estate
or any other area in Margaret River; and, if yes, what was the outcome?

On behalf of the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport, I thank the member for some
notice of the question.
(1) Fifty-four
complimentary students were registered to travel on orange school buses from
Brookfield Estate in 2014; however, a large percentage of students did not
travel regularly.
(2) Student
demand has meant that no students from Brookfield Estate in 2015 retained a
seat on the orange school buses as 48 eligible students from the wider Margaret
River area are now using these services instead.
(3) An orange school
bus service for complimentary students from Brookfield Estate has operated for
five and a half years.
(4) All eligible
students from areas in Margaret River are currently catered for on existing
orange school bus services. Additional services will be added subject to demand
by eligible students.
