Given that the Swan coastal plains wetlands are now a part of the Environmental Protection Authority’s regulations and have been gazetted, does the Swan coastal plains wetlands policy have to come before Parliament? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Revised Draft Environmental Protection (Swan Coastal Plain Wetlands) Policy and Regulations 2004 have not been gazetted. The Minister for the Environment is currently consulting on the revised EPP and associated regulations with those who made submissions on the draft EPP and regulations. This consultation period will close on Friday, 26 November 2004. Following that, the minister will make a final decision on the EPP and its associated regulations. If approved, the EPP and its associated regulations will be gazetted and tabled in Parliament in accordance with section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
