GAMBLING —
FINANCIAL COUNSELLING
819. Mrs
A.K. HAYDEN to the Minister for Community Services:
I have a supplementary question.
What advice did the minister provide the Premier on the implications of
expanding gaming —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! Member
for Wanneroo, I call you to order for the first time.
Several members interjected.
Mrs A.K. HAYDEN : Seriously!
Do members want to start that on their side, really?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : It is the last
question, guys. Just relax.
Withdrawal of Remark
Mrs A.K.
HAYDEN : The member for Swan Hills called me a horrible person. I ask
her to withdraw that.
The SPEAKER : What did she
say?
Mrs A.K. HAYDEN : ''Horrible
person''.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Has everybody
finished? I do not think it is a point of order. I have been here 17 years and
I have been called a lot worse than that—not a horrible woman, but I have
been called very bad things.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Mrs A.K. HAYDEN : That is
okay. I can wear it. I will start again.
What advice did the minister provide
to the Premier on the implications of expanding gaming, including the impact on
household finances, the increased prevalence of family and domestic violence
and the increased services that will come under financial counselling or did
the minister just sit silent and not represent her stakeholders?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! Before
we get an answer, I remind everyone that a supplementary question is short and
it refers to the previous question.

We are not expanding gaming, so I am
not sure what advice I am expected to give the Premier on this point. As I said,
I am very comfortable with the support we have given the Financial Counselling
Network in this state and the way it and the not-for-profit sector are working
generally at present.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
