OUT-OF-HOME CARE REFORM
382. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I have given a massive amount of
notice of this question—since 19 March this year.
I
refer to the Department of Communities out-of-home care reform web page that
lists a document entitled ''Out- of-Home Care Service Costs —
Department of Communities and Community Service Organisations'', which states that Communities is unable to separate out
its back-end costs to analyse the cost of providing out-of-home care.
(1) Why is the department unable to
separate out its back-end costs?
(2) When was this document made
available on the website?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Department
of Communities' corporate resources support the frontline functions
involved in the management of all children in care placement. Whether a placement
is made by the Department of Communities or is made through a community service
organisation, Communities does not allocate its costs to each type of placement
on a case-by-case basis.
(2) The document
was uploaded to the out-of-home care reform webpage between 9 and 13 March
2020.
