I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Forest Products Commission’s systems are not designed to answer this question with precision because they do not separate harvesting on mined areas from concurrent harvesting of forest adjacent to the mined area. This may not always be an issue and the extent to which it applies may vary significantly with circumstances from year to year. Similar questions have previously been answered without this caveat. The Forest Products Commission has provided data for harvesting operations that involved bauxite mining, in whole or part, during the past three years. The following figures are for the total volume of all grades of jarrah sawlog from such areas for the last three financial years - 1999-2000 Jarrah sawlog - all grades 12 295 cubic metres 2000-01 Jarrah sawlog - all grades 14 007 cubic metres 2001-02 Jarrah sawlog - all grades 7 274 cubic metres
