I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police.
As
the honourable member is aware, a health assessment working group, comprising
representatives from the WA Police Force, the Mental Health Commission,
the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and other stakeholders,
has been established to investigate the most effective process for health
assessments. Advice from the HAWG, along with the Law Reform Commission of Western
Australia's October 2016 report Review of the Firearms Act 1973 (WA) ,
will inform the new Firearms Act.
