VENUESWEST — NIB STADIUM
952. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Sport and Recreation:
I refer to information revealed
yesterday that VenuesWest will be making approximately $800 000 per annum from
operating nib Stadium. Why was Allia Venue Management paid compensation of $1.9
million for only eight months of affected operations when the government
expects to make a return of only $800 000 in any given year?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for West Swan for the question.
The compensation paid to Allia was brought forward; we always
knew that there would be compensation. There were two lots of compensation. I
have the information somewhere but I cannot remember which accounting firm went
through that and did it. We had it done professionally, and that was the figure
that came up. It was verified. That was the figure that was paid.
Mr D.J. Kelly :
Hindsight.
Mr T.K. WALDRON :
Nib Stadium is being taken over by VenuesWest. It agreed to handle all the
contracts with the sports in the first year as is. It would run them for a
year, see how the first year went and then we would review it at the end of the
year. I did not hear the figure that the member mentioned and do not know where
she got it from.
Ms
R. Saffioti : Sorry?
Mr
T.K. WALDRON : The member quoted a figure from VenuesWest.
Ms R. Saffioti : You
gave it yesterday.
Mr T.K. WALDRON :
Was that in the answer to the question?
Ms
R. Saffioti : Yes.
Mr
T.K. WALDRON : I cannot remember that figure.
Ms
R. Saffioti : It was $800 000.
Mr
T.K. WALDRON : I am not sure exactly how that figure was arrived at. I will
clarify that for the member.
