I refer to a letter you signed dated July 30 2003,‘You will be aware that the intention of this Government remains to have a multi-purpose court facility, including an aquatic facility, built on the Scarborough High School site’.
I will also refresh your memory to comments you made on 6PR on Tuesday, October 22 2002,‘We’ll deliver on what we said we’d deliver’, and ask -
When will the people of Scarborough, Innaloo, Doubleview, and Gwelup have their pool?

The State Government has allocated the funds to build the aquatic facilities on the site - but have been unable to secure the City of Stirling's agreement to establish a facility on this site. On 28 June 2005 Stirling City Council resolved to undertake a detailed needs analysis and feasibility study in regard to future provision of recreation facilities, including an aquatic centre in the coastal area of the City. Government has offered a total of $4.5 million for the construction of the recreation centre and indoor pool, or alternatively $3.2 million for the construction of the recreation centre and outdoor pool, with an additional $600 000 to assist with running cost. The City has agreed to complete the community consultation process, needs analysis, and feasibility study, so that the proposed aquatic facility can be progressed.
