(a) Filippo Raggi
(b) Mr Raggi has two masters qualifications in Sustainable Development and Human Geography. In addition Mr Raggi is multilingual and has lived for most of the last 42 years in Africa. He has previously worked in the region as an economic journalist and for the United Nations in trading, marketing and project management roles.
(c) Mr Raggi operates from Nairobi, Kenya but travels throughout Africa as required to support Western Australian State Government trade and investment priorities.
(d) Mr Raggi was engaged by the Western Australian Trade Office Middle East based in Dubai as a consultant. He commenced on 1 January 2013 for a term of 12 months. His remuneration comprises USD6000 per month with reasonable travel and communication expenses also met by the Middle East Office.
(e) Mr Raggi was selected and engaged by the Western Australian Trade Office Middle East based in Dubai and therefore not subject to the Government procurement rules applying in Western Australia. Notwithstanding this the role was subject to an open tender in Dubai using a recruitment company.
(f) Mr Raggi is engaged to provide business development and international trade and investment facilitation in Africa for the State Government. This involves working closely with State Government agencies but also private Western Australian businesses interested in inward or outward investment as well as trade and development opportunities.
