ELLENBROOK
SWIMMING POOL — LIBERAL PARTY ELECTION COMMITMENTS
723. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the
Premier:
I refer to the Liberal Party's
commitment to construct two swimming pools in Ellenbrook, a commitment heavily
promoted in the last election campaign through flyers and flashing road signs
et cetera.
(1) Given it has been
20 months since the election, why is the Minister for Sport and Recreation
walking away from this commitment?
(2) When will
construction of the pools commence and when will they be open to the public?

(1)–(2) As
the member said, it is 20 months since the election. That is fair comment, but
the member has never bothered to contact me in those 20 months. She has never
raised it. I walk past her in the corridor all the time.

The SPEAKER : Members!
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! Member
for Warnbro!
Ms
R. Saffioti : Yes, I did; I raised it with you a few months ago.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
She has never come to see me about it and never raised it. The member has to do
her job as a local member, particularly in opposition. I am very much aware of
the commitment made to Ellenbrook during the election campaign. I went out
there with the Liberal candidate and met community groups. Yes, we intend to
deliver on that commitment.
