TIER 3
RAIL LINES — CLOSURE — ROAD UPGRADES
332. Hon DARREN WEST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the crumbling wheatbelt roads due to the closure of tier 3 rail lines.
(1) Apart from
the Shires of Cunderdin and Quairading, has the government received any other
report that roads upgraded to replace tier 3 rail lines are failing and need
repairs?
(2) If yes to
(1), what are the other roads and what works do they require?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport, I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) The only
other formal approach Main Roads has received has been from the Shire of
Wickepin.
(2) The shire
has advised that some pavement failures have occurred on a two-kilometre
section of Lomos Road. The council is proposing
pavement repairs comprising a cement stabilised base and two-coat chip seal.
