FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT
LINK — COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
624. MR N.W. MORTON to the
Minister for Transport:
Can the minister please inform the house whether the community
will be consulted as part of the very important Forrestfield–Airport
Link project?

AnswerView source ↗

I assure the member for Forrestfield that I share his
enthusiasm for this project. Everyone in metropolitan Perth stands to benefit
from this substantial infrastructure project. We will do a lot of consultation.
Mr J.R. Quigley interjected.
The SPEAKER : Thank
you, member for Butler. I call you to order for the second time.
Mr D.C. NALDER : I
can confirm that Public Transport Authority staff were present at the Perth
Airport master plan community consultation session conducted by the Perth
Airport in late June and early July. In the near future, the PTA will conduct
specific Forrestfield–Airport Link consultation sessions. The first
session is on Tuesday, 2 September at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre.
There will be six consultation sessions in this round, and they will be about
sharing the broader planning aspects of the project, such as route alignment
and station features. Community members are encouraged to ask questions to
understand how this project is likely to affect their journey choices. Later,
as the project progresses, the PTA will hold further community consultations to
explain how it sees the bus network in these areas aligning, so people know how
they will fit into the train timetables. The bus networks will become feeder
bus services. We are also considering the broader implications for the cycling
network. We encourage members of the community to actively engage with these
consultation sessions and have their say.
