BURRUP PENINSULA - ZONED INDUSTRIAL LAND
With regard to question on notice 4201, asked on 23 November 2006, and to a question without notice asked on 20 March 2007, I thank the minister for her department’s efforts to clarify the situation. I ask the minister whether she will further correct her response to both questions after reviewing the Shire of Roebourne scheme 8 town planning maps and documentation that indicates the area to be approximately 4 594 hectares and in excess of 40 per cent of the total land mass of the Burrup Peninsula, by answering the following question. What is the total area of the land marked in pink - the strategic industry - on the Shire of Roebourne scheme 8 town planning scheme maps 5 and 9 that cover the Burrup Peninsula as named by the state nomenclature committee and approved by the then Minister for Lands, Dr D.J. Wordsworth, MLC on 26 February 1979, and not as part of the limited area defined in the Burrup Peninsula land use plan and management strategy of September 1996? Hon KIM CHANCE

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary, I thank Hon Giz Watson for providing some notice of the question. I hope this answer will provide the member with the information she is seeking. However, if it does not, she can raise it with me afterwards. Only the member can judge whether the answer meets her needs. Hon Norman Moore : Why are you changing the rules? Hon KIM CHANCE : We always try to provide an adequate answer. The plans to which the member referred did not provide the boundaries of the Burrup Peninsula. The Burrup Peninsula is not a legal definition in the Department for Planning and Infrastructure geographic information system database. Please refer to the plans tabled as part of question without notice 4 on 20 March 2007. If that does not work for the member, she can tell me and we can try to work it out.
