I thank Hon Donna Faragher for some notice of this question. (1) No substantial progress has been made on the review of the North Eastern Hills Settlement Pattern Plan. Since 2006, the Western Australian Planning Commission and the Department for Planning and Infrastructure have given greater priority to resolving more pressing urban growth and land supply issues elsewhere in the north east corridor so that long-lasting development proposals can be progressed to land release. This has also been the stated priority of the City of Swan. More recently, the Department for Planning and Infrastructure and the City of Swan have jointly discussed draft development proposals for the Gidgegannup town site, the issue that gave rise to the original request to review the North Eastern Hills Settlement Pattern Plan. It is anticipated that the WAPC will advise the minister of its recommendations for a review of the North Eastern Hills Settlement Pattern Plan before the end of 2007.
